FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KDR305 presents All Because Of A Hat, a two-person exhibition featuring paintings by Isabella Cuglievan and Adrianne Rubenstein

Scrolling through Instagram I stumbled across a mesmerizing bucket hat with brightly colored details. My friend Adrianne, was fundraising for Covid related charities and was asking artist friends to make wares to raise money. Although missing the opportunity to purchase this hat, I dove deep into an Instagram investigation. If Adrianne favored Isabella’s work, I was bound to love it as well.

Isabella and Adrianne first met in 2018 while facilitating Katharine Bernhardt’s MATE exhibition in Lima, Peru. Long-distance friendships can sometimes be the most meaningful. The past year has taught us that no matter the distance, we can stay interconnected and continually share our values through art and expand our influence as creatives with social media. Art doesn’t happen in a vacuum and the pursuit of connection and community can still occur,  even when separated by over 3,500 miles.

Four paintings by Isabella explore her technical Rorschach-like construction using the fine hairs of her brushes resulting in psychedelic palettes and kaleidoscopic shapes. Adrianne’s four paintings are whimsical in approach. She illustrates her emotional attachments to objects and surroundings in an impressionistic and fanciful way. While having their distinct styles, the two women share a wild use of color.
