FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KDR305 and Bridge Initiative present Florida Room No.2: Biscayne Bay featuring 21 artists, writers, and makers in an eclectic sunroom setting.

The second edition of "Florida Room" focuses on Biscayne Bay, co-curated by Kate Fleming, Founder and Director of Bridge Initiative, who has been working for the last year to holistically protect the Bay's natural, ecological, cultural, and historical resources to pursue designation on the National Register of Historic Places for the expansive area.

Stretching from North Miami to Card Sound, the subtropical lagoon Biscayne Bay is a cherished ecological, recreational, and scenic resource with a tapestry of hidden stories and rich historical significance. Throughout its vast cultural continuum spanning over 10,000 years, including the life-ways of the Tequesta people, the Bay has been a subject of comprehensive study due to its extraordinary natural and ecological systems. This exhibition aims to deepen the public's appreciation and pride in this unparalleled necklace of natural and cultural wonders.

We will honor the Bay through various artists' practices in an intergenerational grouping. Thematically the artworks overall range from the organic, nautical, historical, fantastical, sometimes problematic, political, climate-related, floral, fauna, folklore, underwater, over water, and of course, the beauty and, most of all, the quirkiness that is the Biscayne Bay. A percentage of the proceeds from each artwork sold will go to Bridge Initiative to champion their work advocating and protecting the Bay.

Exhibiting Artists: Sharon Aluma, Alissa Alfonso, Alejandro Piñeiro Bello, Carlos Betancourt, Bean Blackett, Brian Butler, Nicole Burko, Christo Jean Claude, Johnny Defeo, Michele Oka Doner, Orlando Estrada, Naomi Fisher, Wayne Garcia, Justin Giunta, Alberto Latorre, Lo Hi Magazine, Coral Morphologic, Jessy Nite,  Christina Pettersson, Lee Pivnik, and Misael Soto.

KDR305 is a contemporary exhibition space housed in a 103 yr old cottage in the heart of Little Havana, Miami, FL. The exhibition opes Saturday, July 22, 6:30–8:30PM.
