Ice Palace Studios

KDR is pleased to present a two-person booth featuring painter/sculptor Alexis Trice and sculptor Lee Pivnik in a profound exploration of the natural world. This pair shares a fascination with the invisible systems that connect living beings to one another and to their environments - including currents of energy, memory, and symbiosis. Together, their works propose a world shaped not by separation but by exchange, revealing how individual lives are embedded within larger cycles of transformation, vulnerability, and regeneration.
Alexis Trice is an artist working in New York City. She makes paintings that navigate the inner workings of the natural world, sentimentality, and memory. She conveys these scenes with the realism of observed and documented natural science alongside the conjurings of her own mind. Time permeates layers through burning candles and flowing waterfalls. Trice’s work is about energy, both emotional and molecular, and its transference and impact as it ripples outward. Water acts as a source of our own universal feelings and disturbances: joy, fear, ecstasy, anguish, through the tears we keep hidden. The salt from the sea and the salt in our bodies; the water in our atmosphere, our cells, our veins; the endless, crucial circuit of evaporation and condensation. The cycle of a pearl in an oyster, a mussel, like a hardened memory. Past lives. Open wounds, hauntings, submerged recollections. This energy is released and ultimately recycled in a continuous, exquisite pattern. Her work aims to reveal the undercurrent sequestered just beneath the surface.
Lee Pivnik is an artist working in Miami, Florida. Working across disciplines, he draws inspiration from living systems and other species to envision a future grounded in mutualistic relationships rather than extractive economies. Permeating his practice is the idea of entanglement - the touching, changing, mutating relationships between species and their environments. Through these intimacies, worlds arise —worlds of decay and degradation or verdant flourishing. His sculptures, drawings, and installations create a visual language of ecological entanglement, referencing fungal networks, epiphytic plants, and emergent animal architectures inhabiting South Florida.
